LeeBrian E. Gaskins joined University of Houston-Clear Lake as its first assistant vice president for Information Technology/chief information officer in February 2020. He was promoted to senior associate VP of the department a year later. In this new role, Dr. Gaskins leads the Office of Information Technology, which manages all aspects of campus technology including the development and implementation of new technologies. He served in a similar capacity as associate VP for IT/CIO at Texas A&M International University (TAMU) in Laredo for 15 years.
In addition to his experience in IT, Dr. Gaskins worked as a reviewer for the Journal of Asia Business Studies and the Journal of Information Technology Development. He also worked as a LAN specialist for West Virginia University, where he developed an extended learning initiative and a web-integrated training and development database to provide online access to rural community residents for continuing education.
Dr. Gaskins earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Master of Arts in Technology Education, and MBA in Information Technology — all from West Virginia University. He earned his Ph.D. in International Business Administration from Texas A&M International University.
